Foreign Minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has arrived in Pakistan on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

At Nur Khan Airbase, he was accorded a warm welcome, where children dressed in traditional attire greeted him with flowers, symbolizing the close friendship between the two nations.

Sixth Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue

During his stay, Pakistan and China will hold the Sixth Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, focusing on:

  • Enhancing cooperation in politics, economy, and security
  • Promoting regional connectivity
  • Exploring new trade opportunities
  • Expanding the scope of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)

CPEC remains central to both countries’ economic and development goals, serving as a cornerstone project for long-term growth.

Timing and Regional Context

The visit comes just ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheduled trip to Beijing later this month to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

The timing underscores the ongoing high-level engagement between the two countries, reflecting their commitment to mutual support in regional and global affairs.

Analysts’ Perspective

Experts believe that this visit will play a crucial role in:

  • Strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and China
  • Building new frameworks for cooperation across multiple sectors
  • Reinforcing the deep-rooted friendship shaped by political, economic, and cultural understanding

With planned meetings and agreements on the agenda, Wang Yi’s presence in Islamabad is expected to significantly influence the future policies and partnerships of both nations.
