In a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s tax administration, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has signed a landmark agreement with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to design and deliver a customized Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme for FBR officers.
The initiative aims to enhance the professional expertise of officers by equipping them with modern skills in digitalization, data analytics, international taxation, and trade facilitation.
Ceremony at FBR Headquarters
The signing ceremony was held at the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad, presided over by Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial. The event was attended by Board Members, senior FBR officers, Director Generals of the Inland Revenue and Customs Academies, and representatives of the Transformation Delivery Unit (TDU).
From LUMS, Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon and Dean of Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Dr. Adeel Zafar, were present on the occasion.

Building Capacity Through Specialized Training
In his address, Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, praised both FBR and LUMS teams for designing a rigorous and forward-looking programme. He emphasized that the PGD will enable officers to strengthen Pakistan’s tax administration by leveraging advanced skills, particularly in the areas of data-driven governance and digital economy management.

A Milestone in FBR’s Transformation Plan

The first batch of 51 probationary FBR officers will commence the programme on October 20, 2025.
