The Punjab government has given the green light to a Rs. 200 million feasibility study for establishing a new theme park in Lahore, marking a significant step toward enhancing the province’s tourism and recreational infrastructure.
The approval came during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf on Friday.
During the session, the PDWP approved seven major development projects in the areas of tourism, IT, road infrastructure, and minority affairs, collectively valued at Rs. 5.118 billion.
Tourism Development Projects
In addition to the Lahore theme park study, several other tourism-oriented feasibility studies were also cleared, including:
- Sky Walk Glass Bridge in Murree – worth Rs. 72.152 million
- Chairlift & Cable Car from Lakot to Pindi Point, Murree – worth Rs. 90 million
- Cable Car at River Indus, Kala Bagh, Mianwali – worth Rs. 81.571 million
These projects aim to boost tourist attractions in Murree and Mianwali, creating new recreational opportunities while strengthening Punjab’s tourism economy.
Other Key Initiatives
Beyond tourism, the PDWP also approved development projects across infrastructure and social sectors:
- Construction of Road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool via Lawa, Chakwal – Rs. 1.374 billion
- Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme – Rs. 1 billion
- Accelerate Punjab Startups Tech Programme – Rs. 2.3 billion
These initiatives reflect the provincial government’s push to balance tourism growth with IT innovation, road connectivity, and minority welfare programs.
