MG unveiled the U9 pickup truck at the Pakistan Auto Show in Karachi yesterday, marking its official debut in Pakistan’s diesel pickup segment. A day after the reveal, the company announced that bookings for the U9 have opened, without disclosing further delivery details.
The U9 arrives as MG’s first pickup offering in Pakistan. It is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that was earlier offered in Australia, making Pakistan the second market to receive it. With this launch, MG positions the U9 against established competitors such as the ISUZU D-Max and Toyota Revo.
The truck features a 4×4 drivetrain with front and rear differential locks, a towing capacity of 3,500 kg and a ground clearance of 220 mm. Its ZF 8-speed automatic transmission generates 215 hp and 520 Nm of torque, giving the vehicle the capability for both city and off-road use.
Inside, MG has added a range of comfort and technology features. The driver’s seat offers 8-way electric adjustment, 4-way lumbar support, and heating, ventilation and massage functions. The passenger seat provides 6-way electric adjustment with heating.
The U9 also includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, JBL 8-speaker audio, rear AC vents, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.
