Pakistan Achieves Record-Breaking Monthly Tobacco Exports

Pakistan has set a new monthly export record of $34 million in September 2025, according to the latest data by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Tobacco exports touched a new all-time high monthly exports of $34 million as per provisional numbers released by SBP.

Exports of tobacco in 1QFY26 amount to $74 million, up 8 percent YoY, central bank data added.

This comes despite recent attempts by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to tighten procedures for Removal of Processed Tobacco from Tobacco Green Leave Threshing (GLT) Unit or a warehouse, according to new rules issued in July 2025.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that tobacco use in Pakistan causes around 164,000 deaths annually and results in an economic loss exceeding Rs. 700 billion ($2.5 billion).
