The Government of Punjab has announced the launch of the second phase of its laptop distribution scheme, aimed at supporting students across the province through merit-based allocations.
According to the Higher Education Department, the new phase will formally begin next month, with a detailed schedule already finalized. The distribution ceremony is expected to be inaugurated by the Punjab Chief Minister in the first or second week of September.
Expansion Beyond Lahore
In the first phase of the program, approximately 14,000 laptops were distributed among students in Lahore. Building on this success, the second phase will extend the initiative to cover a much larger number of students across multiple districts, ensuring that more deserving candidates gain access to digital resources for their academic growth.
Commitment to Education and Technology
Officials highlighted that the scheme reflects the provincial government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide, encouraging innovation, and equipping students with tools necessary for research and higher learning.
The distribution will be carried out strictly on a merit basis, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.
Looking Ahead
With the second phase now set for rollout, the laptop scheme is expected to further strengthen Punjab’s educational ecosystem by enabling students to participate more actively in the digital era, while also supporting the government’s broader vision of a knowledge-driven economy.
