WhatsApp

WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature called Writing Help, designed to make composing messages faster and easier by offering AI-generated text suggestions. The tool supports multiple tones, including professional, humorous, and supportive, making it suitable for both direct messages and group chats.

How the Feature Works

Users can access Writing Help through a newly added pencil icon while drafting a message. Once selected, the feature generates several AI-based versions of the text, giving users the option to pick one or ignore them entirely.

According to WhatsApp, the feature has been developed to enhance convenience without disrupting the messaging experience for those who prefer typing their own messages.

Privacy and Security

Writing Help runs on Meta’s Private Processing technology, which ensures that neither WhatsApp nor Meta gains access to the original message or the AI-generated suggestions.

The company stated that the system was tested in collaboration with the security community to ensure it does not compromise user privacy. Importantly, the feature is optional and disabled by default, meaning users can continue using WhatsApp normally if they choose not to enable it.

Global Rollout

For now, Writing Help is launching in English, beginning with users in the United States and select other countries. WhatsApp confirmed that it will gradually expand support to additional languages and regions later this year.

Industry experts expect the feature to eventually become available in Pakistan and other key markets as part of WhatsApp’s broader integration of AI into its platform.
