National Electric Vehicle Policy

The federal government on Wednesday introduced electronic balloting for electric two- and three-wheelers under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme, marking a significant step toward cleaner and more affordable transport.

Federal Secretary for Industries and Production Saif Anjum inaugurated the digital draw, held under the supervision of the Engineering Development Board (EDB). CEO Khuda Bux and Additional Secretary Asif Saeed Lughmani also attended the event.

A total of 40,000 electric motorcycles and 1,000 electric rickshaws were allotted among successful applicants from across Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The ministry said it had received 269,161 applications for the scheme.

The computerized balloting, conducted through the PAVE Online Portal, was overseen by a dedicated committee to ensure transparency. Applicants can verify results using their CNIC or application ID. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will be responsible for delivery, warranties, and after-sales services.

Under the subsidy program, buyers of electric two-wheelers will receive Rs. 50,000 through bank leasing or Rs. 80,000 on self-financed purchases. For three-wheelers, the subsidy is Rs. 200,000 via leasing and Rs. 400,000 for self-financing.
