The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Monday concluded a public hearing under the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA) mechanism for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2024–25, concerning power distribution companies (DISCOs). The hearing raised the possibility of consumer relief of up to Rs. 1.80 per unit over the next three months.

The session was chaired by NEPRA Chairman Waseem Mukhtar, with active participation from CPPA-G officials, business community members, Ministry of Energy representatives, journalists, and members of the general public.

As per NEPRA, the DISCOs requested a relief of Rs. 53.393 billion under the fourth-quarter adjustment for FY 2024–25. If granted, this would translate to a reduction of Rs. 1.80 per unit in electricity bills for consumers over the upcoming quarter, according to CPPA-G officials.

NEPRA emphasized that all stakeholders were provided an equal and transparent platform to voice their opinions during the hearing. The potential relief would apply to all DISCO consumers, including those of K-Electric, but would exclude lifeline users, prepaid customers, and electric vehicle charging stations.

A detailed decision will be issued by the Authority after a comprehensive review of the submitted data.
