Net Metering Consumers

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced that consumers who export electricity to the national grid through their solar power systems will now be eligible to receive payments, according to a report by City42.

Payments Based on Exported Units

Sources confirmed that payments will be calculated strictly on the basis of exported units, in line with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) policy. Before releasing funds, the exported units will undergo a process of verification and cross-checking to ensure accuracy.

Procedure for Consumers

Consumers interested in claiming payments will need to visit their relevant LESCO offices. Officials explained that the amount earned from exported units will be settled separately from regular electricity bills to maintain transparency.

Divisional and revenue officers have been tasked with inspecting net metering connections. After inspection, revenue offices will prepare consumer cases using a test check proforma.

Approval and Disbursement

Once these cases are compiled, they will be forwarded to the finance department. Upon approval, consumers will be issued cross checks equivalent to the value of their exported electricity units.

Encouraging Renewable Energy Adoption

Officials noted that this initiative aligns with national energy goals and is expected to encourage more households and businesses to invest in solar energy systems, ultimately reducing reliance on the grid and supporting Pakistan’s renewable energy ambitions.
