Board Exams

The Punjab Schools Education Department has announced a major policy shift by replacing the traditional board examinations with an assessment test for students.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that the new assessment system aims to enhance academic performance in grades nine and ten, while also reinforcing foundational skills from the early years of schooling.

The department further confirmed that the eighth-grade assessment will be conducted by the Punjab Examination Commission for Teachers and Assessments (PECTA). Detailed guidelines for the examination process will be issued within the next 20 days.

Initially, this assessment test will be introduced in government schools. For private institutions, board examinations will become optional, with the new session expected to begin in February or March of the coming year.
