Pakistan has introduced automated self-boarding machines that allow passengers to obtain their boarding cards as soon as they enter the terminal. The new system reduces waiting time and lets travelers begin the departure process without standing in long queues.
According to sources, officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will now process immigration through a new e-application linked with the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS). Passengers traveling abroad will enter their complete profile details in the app, including visa information, employment status, and purpose of travel.
All airlines operating from Pakistan will connect to the system. Once a traveler uploads all required documents and information, they can proceed directly to the departure lounge, collect their boarding card from the machine, and complete immigration clearance within minutes.
The FIA said the application includes strong security checks and requires every passenger to submit necessary documents and respond to verification questions before approval.
Authorities have installed the self-boarding machines at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Islamabad International Airport, and Jinnah International Airport Karachi as part of the initial rollout.
