The UAE has rolled out new updates to its visa system, creating more opportunities for visitors, professionals, and families. The reforms are designed to support the country’s long-term vision of attracting global talent, boosting tourism, and strengthening its role as a hub for innovation and culture.

New Visa Categories Introduced

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced four new types of visit visas:

Specialist Visa – For experts in artificial intelligence and technology, issued with a sponsorship letter from a UAE-based company.

Entertainment Visa – For foreigners temporarily visiting to perform or participate in entertainment activities.

Event Visa – For attendees of conferences, exhibitions, cultural programs, festivals, or sports events.

Tourist Cruise Visa – A multiple-entry visa for travelers arriving via cruise ships and pleasure boats, requiring an official itinerary.

Updates to Existing Visas

Several existing visa categories have been revised with new conditions:

Visiting Relatives or Friends – New income requirements for sponsors, starting from AED 4,000, depending on the family relationship.

Business Exploration Visa – Applicants must now prove financial stability before being allowed to explore business opportunities in the UAE.

Humanitarian & Family Cases

The UAE has also outlined clearer rules for humanitarian and family-related visas:

Conflict-Affected Individuals – A one-year visa will be granted, with the option of extensions, to people from war-torn or disaster-affected countries.

Widows & Divorced Women – Eligible to apply for residency visas for themselves and their children, provided financial and housing conditions are met.

Strengthening the UAE’s Global Appeal

Officials stressed that these changes reflect the UAE’s commitment to remain flexible, transparent, and welcoming. The revised visa framework simplifies procedures, enhances services for applicants, and expands pathways for:

Skilled professionals and specialists

Tourists and cruise travelers

Families seeking stability

Businesses and innovators

With these reforms, the UAE continues to cement its status as a global hub for talent, tourism, and investment.
