The Punjab School Education Department has imposed a complete ban on the use of mobile phones by students in all government and private schools across the province.
According to an official notification issued to all heads of education authorities, schools have been instructed to enforce the ban immediately without exception.
The department has also directed schools to encourage students to participate actively in co-curricular and personality-building activities, emphasizing that such engagement is essential for healthy mental and social development.
The notification has been issued in line with a resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly, aimed at creating a more focused academic environment and protecting students from unnecessary and harmful mobile phone usage during school hours.
Officials said the decision seeks to ensure better discipline, reduce distractions, and promote a safer, healthier atmosphere for learning.
