Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to see a downward revision of up to Rs. 3 per litre in the upcoming fortnight, according to industry sources.
Expected Adjustments
Preliminary calculations suggest that the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may decrease by Rs. 3.13 per litre. Petrol, however, is expected to see only a marginal reduction of up to 61 paisas per litre — and in some scenarios, it may remain unchanged.
Process and Timeline
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is set to forward its pricing summary to the government on August 31. This recommendation will be based on global market trends and detailed industry data already provided by oil marketing companies.
The Ministry of Finance, after reviewing OGRA’s proposal and consulting with the Prime Minister, will announce the final prices.
Previous Adjustments
Earlier this month, the government slashed the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs. 12.84 per litre, reducing it to Rs. 272.99. Meanwhile, the petrol price was kept unchanged at Rs. 264.61 per litre.
