To ensure Pakistani students receive updated and locally relevant education for their O-Level (IGCSE) exams, Oxford has rolled out three new mandatory subject specifications: Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu.

A Clearer, More Practical Framework

The redesigned curricula place emphasis on critical thinking, analytical ability, and structured exam preparation. Covering Pakistan’s history, geography, Islamic teachings, cultural traditions, and the richness of the Urdu language and literature, the syllabi aim to strengthen both academic depth and national identity.

Oxford explained that the content has been written in simple, accessible language, while also drawing connections to global developments and Pakistan’s evolving role on the international stage.

Partnership for Quality Education

Arshad Saeed Husain, Managing Director of Oxford University Press Pakistan, underlined that the collaboration between OUP and AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) ensures international expertise benefits local learners.
“OxfordAQA is committed to fairness, transparency, and quality education, enabling learners to succeed on the world stage,” Husain stated.

Preparing Students Beyond Exams

Salma Adil, Director of Oxford Pakistan, noted that the initiative balances academic integrity with practical skills.
“Our goal is not only to prepare students for exams but also to give them the skills and understanding they need to thrive in a global environment,” she said.

To support students and teachers, new textbooks aligned with the syllabi were also unveiled. The books were authored by subject experts:
