Palestine

Support for Palestine’s recognition as an independent state is steadily gaining ground worldwide, with at least 145 out of 193 United Nations member states now formally recognizing it, according to recent reports.

First G7 Nations Join the List

In a historic move, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal have recently announced their recognition of Palestine — becoming the first G7 nations to extend this acknowledgment. Analysts believe this development will significantly influence other Western powers to reconsider their positions.

The momentum is expected to spread across Europe, where France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Malta are reportedly preparing to make similar announcements in the near future.

Strong Backing from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East

Outside Europe, Palestine already enjoys broad diplomatic support. Most nations in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America have long recognized Palestinian statehood. Major global powers including Russia, China, and India, alongside nearly all Arab states, remain firm in their backing — viewing recognition as part of efforts to advance a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict.

Opposition from Key Global Players

Despite the growing list of supporters, influential countries continue to oppose Palestinian recognition. Israel has firmly rejected the move, with unwavering support from the United States. In addition, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore remain among the states that have yet to extend formal recognition.

Europe Remains Divided

Within Europe, the issue continues to polarize nations. Recognition is almost evenly split between those in favor and those opposed, highlighting the deep political divide across the continent.

Rising Pressure for a Lasting Solution

Diplomatic experts note that as more countries step forward, international pressure is mounting on world powers to pursue a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. For many nations, recognition of Palestine is viewed not only as a symbolic act of justice but also as an essential step toward peace in the region.
