PTA

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is closely monitoring the telecom situation in flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other regions across the country where recent flash floods have caused severe damage.

According to reports, multiple cellular networks and fixed-line sites have been impacted, resulting in partial and, in some areas, complete service disruption. The heavy monsoon rains and subsequent flooding have created significant challenges for residents, rescue teams, and service providers.

To address this, PTA teams are actively present on the ground. They are working in close collaboration with federal and provincial authorities, local district administrations, and telecom operators to restore connectivity as quickly as possible. Emergency meetings are being held to track progress and remove obstacles in affected areas.

In Buner, for instance, the PTA convened a meeting with the Honorable Minister Mr. Ameer Muqaam, PTI Chairman Mr. Gohar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kashif Qayum, and senior representatives from PTCL and leading Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs). The focus of this meeting was to review restoration efforts, accelerate repair work, and ensure that emergency communication channels remain functional for residents and relief agencies.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority emphasized that restoring telecommunication services is a top priority because reliable connectivity plays a vital role in ongoing rescue and relief operations. By joining hands with telecom operators and government bodies, the PTA aims to minimize disruption and support people in the affected regions during this crisis.
